Other Projects

KDC operates Happy Days DayCare, a successful day care center in Broken Bow, Ok., and has served as property manager for certain of Little Dixie's facilities.

KDC entered the field of operating contact centers with its first center in Antlers, Oklahoma in September, 2003, and quickly expanded to a second contact center in Seminole, Oklahoma in December, 2003. This effort will provide a real impetus for another of Little Dixie's goals, which is to provide quality employment opportunities in southeastern Oklahoma.

A Few Words About Us
KDC was incorporated by Little Dixie in August of 1987 as an arm of the Agency to engage in profit making enterprises. Little Dixie, a national award winning Community Action Agency, has become renowned for creatively carrying out its mission to provide services for the poor and under served in its operational territory which includes the three southeast Oklahoma counties of Choctaw, Pushmataha and McCurtain. KDC, although owned by Little Dixie, functions as any other corporation. KDC is subject to the same taxes as other businesses.

Purpose

With the downturn in the national economy came added challenges for the Agency. Finding sources of funds to continue existing programs at their current level of funding or to expand these vitally important programs became paramount to Little Dixie's mission. The Executive Director of Little Dixie, with the Board's support, turned to KDC as the way to generate the funding needed to ensure the continued high level of performance of the Agency's programs.

Beginnings

Following the decision to upgrade the capabilities of KDC, a Chief Operating Officer was retained and charged with developing a business direction and strategy. A construction company was formed in response to the need for single family speculative housing. Local talent was identified to begin this new venture.

Moving Forward

KDC opened the PC Service Center of America in Hugo, Oklahoma in May, 2004. The Center provides hardware, software, networking, programming, repair, and a host of other high tech services. This project is a first step in creating businesses capable of outsourcing for larger metropolitan companies across the United States. By building a pool of trained technical professionals, KDC will be able to attract high-tech business to Oklahoma and fulfill the needs of these companies here in this rural area. KDC knows that the talent pool is here and when the work ethic of our people is added to this equation, success is sure to follow.
